Hunter Nowell was born in Winona, Mississippi in 1980. Hunter graduated from Cleveland High School in 1998 and attended the University of Mississippi where he obtained a degree in Managerial Finance in 2002. While at Ole Miss, Hunter was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Upon obtaining his undergraduate degree, Hunter attended law school at the University of Mississippi where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2006.
Hunter was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2006, and is licensed to practice in all Mississippi courts as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the U. S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Hunter is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association as well as the Bolivar County Bar Association.
Hunter has worked at the firm of Povall & Jeffreys, P.A. in Cleveland, Mississippi since his graduation from law school in 2006. He is a public defender for the City of Cleveland Municipal Court and the Bolivar County Justice Court. Hunter also serves as attorney for the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Merigold, Mississippi.
Hunter practices extensively in the areas of real estate transactions, family law, wills and estates, Social Security disability, personal injury and criminal defense.
Hunter is graduate of the 2010 Class of Leadership Bolivar County, is actively involved in the Cleveland Mississippi Rotary Club and the Bolivar County United Way. Hunter is a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Hunter married his wife, Ann, in 2006 and they have two children.
